Re[2]: Synthetic trans oil

We've put 50,000 miles on our '95 GLX without any troubles with the
tranny. Second has been a good gear to me, it doesn't cruch anywhere
near as much as my old '84 GLi used to. Third gear crunches more
because of the longer throw between the 1-2 vertical and the 3-4
     vertical during the 2-3 upshift.

Only troubles we've had have been remedied by warranty (either factory
or our Masterguard plan). We've had an oil leak for a little while.
Dealer tightened all the oil pan bolts. Still leaks. I initially
thought it was the oil seal around the water/oil cooler. (Dealer did
too) Next time they will be doing the seal like they should have done
     the first time...

Overall very good service from the two dealers we have used.
(Martin-Nemer VW in Latham, NY, and Jack MacDonnell in Cornwall, ONT)

     Cheers
     Craig

I see a disturbing trend----which I hope VW is addressing. How many others
out there have had tranny problems??
