RE: Upgrades and affects on Manuf. Warranties

According to federal law, modifications to a vehicle will only void the
manufacturers warranty if you have a problem with your car that can be
directly attributed to the modification, without any doubt. I had a problem
with some of the electronic equipment inside the car (namely the central
locking system) that the dealer was trying to say was caused by my aftermarket
stereo and/or alarm. After a discussion with the mechanic (not the service
advisor), he went back and discovered that a part on the factory system had
gone bad. The best thing to do is educate yourself on what the part you are
installing does.

As for the current OBD-II chip, I believe that the engine computer resides in
the same place as the OBD-I cars, anyone correct me if I'm wrong (I have a
95). The engine computer is located underneath the plastic cover that sits at
the bottom of the windshield on the passengers side of the car. You need a
hex key and a small screwdriver to remove the wiring harness and cover from
the computer. From there you will have access to the chip (which may be
soldered in).

Subject:	Upgrades and affects on Manuf. Warranties

Hello:

Do aftermarket upgrades: eproms, P-flows, exhausts etc....void the manuf.
warranty. Has anyone ever had a problem with a dealer with after market
products?

Where is the current OBD-ll chip found so I can replace with a Q-ship?
