Hi guys
The air pump on a VR6 is not associated with EGR. Its function is to flush
out the air/vapors in the crankcase when the engine is cold. It just blows
into the crankcase until the engine warms up. On my VR6 (from a 95 Jetta
GLX) I left it off (no space) and my VR6 still whines when it is cold. Of
course my whine may be different than your whine etc.
