Re: VR6 ECU

The part in my '95 OBD I is 27C256 but a 27C512 will work.

Ok after some poking around I found some more information about the VR6
ECU. It is possible that the VW ECUs and BMW ECUs are similar (since they
are both made by bosch). If anyone has access to a 92+ 325 or 328, can
someone verify if they have the same processor and EEPROm as we do? They
list the processor for the BMWs are an MCS-96/51 and a EEPROm of 27C512.
The eeprom should look something like (pardon my ascii art again):

______________
| \

          A
TMS-12FNT
B58 548
LU61A053P

_______________

I tried calling TI for the TMS-12FNT part number but it seems like that
was a part number that VW and TI came up with. In other words, the part
number for this at retail stores might be different. The 27C512 part they
have listed for the BMW ECUs sounds similar to what we have in our cars.
Can anyone help me veiry this? Thanks.
