Inexpensive oil filters

I went to AutoZone (aftermarket auto parts store) and was looking for a
oil filter for my 1996 Jetta GLX vr6 and found that they didn't carry 
a filter for the 1996 model. They did however carry one for the 1995 
GLX. 
Listed as: 1995 volkswagen, Jetta III, 6 CYL 2.8l SFI
Made by Deutsch part#D440 $4.49
It looked just like the filter the dealership used.
Question....
What is the differance between the 1996 and the 1995 vr6 if any that I
should be concerned with when changing the oil filter?
