Celtics Leaving Fleet Center

In 2011, welcome to the Hynes Convention Arena...

Neighborhood news. It is a dreadful time for the Boston Celtics on the court. Off the court, life is not much better for the new Celtics ownership.
Increasingly tired of fighting with their landlord at the FleetCenter, the infamously difficult Jacobs family, the Celtics' owners have started scouring Boston for an alternative site when their lease expires in 2011, say those familiar with the team's plans. Among the possible sites they are investigating: the Hynes Convention Center. Those familiar with the conversations use words like "preliminary" and "exploratory," but say there is no reason a new Celtics' arena could not fit inside the Hynes. Convincing the Back Bay neighbors is another matter. Celtics spokesman George Regan declined to comment.
