Re: Davis A Time Bomb Say Cavalier Folk

Ah yes, another article putting agenda ahead of credibility. It's not that I disagree with Ray's subject line. It's got to be a big concern based on Ricky's history, much though I like what I've seen of him so far. The point is more how long the fuse is and what it takes to light it rather than if one exists. I even agree with the point below that this deal was against Obie's wishes. At the same time...

Windhorst on the Cavs
...Silas knows such things will happen again in Boston. Celtics general manager Danny Ainge traded for Davis against coach Jim O'Brien's wishes. O'Brien's retort has been to not start him and reduce his minutes, and it looks as if he's not going to change his m!
ind anytime soon...

First, the against his wishes pretty clearly had a lot more to do with who he was losing than who he was getting. I'm coming to respect Danny's eye for talent, particularly after Jiri, but his understanding of the importance of chemistry reminds me that he's the coach who got a very public towel thrown in his face. But back to Obie. His *retort* has been not to start him and he's playing less? What's he supposed to do, bench Pierce to play him (and yes, you could swing Pierce to his natural position at SF but we need Jiri's basketball IQ on the court more than that would allow)? I might do it at times, but COME ON, at least recognize that that's the main reason. Instead, nope, gotta be that Ricky's coming in off the bench and playing less JUST so Obie fan get back at Danny. Couldn't possibly be any other reason.
*sheesh*
