Re: Pitino/O'Brien tenure

Per NBA.com, Joe Johnson was selected in the 2001 NBA draft. On Feb 20, 2002, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns as part of a deal with Randy Brown and "Miracle" Milt Palacio.

Per Celtics.com, Jim O'Brien was named Interim Coach on January 8, 2001.

That means that Jim O'Brien was already coaching the C's when Johnson was drafted.

<<'Fraid not. He was a rookie 2001 -2, which was Pitino's last

month overlap before he was traded by Wallace, but most of his time in
Boston was under Pitino.

Sorry, Kim, but I think Ravi's right on this one. O'Brien's tenure with
the Cs lasted almost exactly three seasons -- 1/01 through 1/04. Pitino
walked out in January, 2001. O'Brien piloted the ship to a .500 record
for the balance of the season, somewhat narrowly missing the playoffs. JJ
came aboard during the following season, played for half the season, then
was traded to Phoenix for Rogers and Delk, who helped the Cs in their run
to the conference finals.

Kim, I think JJ was a rookie in O'Brien's first full season as head
