Re: Tabulating Ainge's Mistakes

Ray, close but no cigar. Banks will be better than Ridnour long term. He
isn't a pure point guard but will end up scoring more to make up for it. You also
forgot the delegation of Carroll instead of Conner.

But a pretty good list, if you are keeping track of nits (don't forget that
Jerry West traded the now worshiped Battie for Travis Knight). Every general
manager will make small, low risk mistakes. You just have to stay away from the
big mistakes. The only real mistake was the resigning of Obie but the only
longterm affect is the delay of the institution of the "plan" by a year (but the
return is the lottery pick).....

<< Ol' Danny Boy,
You've made a few mistakes this past season, that is true.

 And here they be:

 1. Drafted Mookie Banks over Luke Ridnour.
Ainge had the perfect opportunity to pick a pure PG
who could run the team, create offensive opportunities for
his teammates, score on his own, and hit three point shots
 to stretch the defense.

 2. Traded for Jumaine Jones
MIA from Day One and never fit into Coach Jim's system.
Likely part of Cap fodder in one of Ainge's next deals.

 3. Didn't replace Jim O'Brien, before the season.
A terrible mistake. He who hesitates is lost.
And there were a bevy of excellent coaches available back then.

 4. Didn't bring in a veteran point guard.
With Ridnour, you wouldn't have needed one, but Banks
questionable playmaking required someone better than James.

 5. Didn't use the Mid-Level exception.
After hiking ticket prices in an unprecedented fashion,
to not use the Mid-Level was unconscionable.
Especially if you were planning to blow up the team.
It's like doubly cheating the fans.

 6. Didn't trade Mark Blount before the deadline.
Blount is so out of here, I'm not sure he would even
agree to a sign and trade.

 7. The Atkins Trade.
Ainge brain cells took a diet with this deal. Helped the Pistons
at a too minimal cost to them.

Those are Danny's boo-boos for the past season.
