Re: Another view of the problem
Jessen - you (via Toecutter on RealGM) are preaching to the confirmed,
at least in this household on this sunny holiday morn.
Many folks - well okay, at least myself - have felt for a long time now
that Walker's versatility was actually counterproductive in that his
presence on the court has actually deprived us of both a traditional PF
and PG. He may have lost weight, but has that improved his conditioning,
up-tempo game, or mind set?
As for Banks, he is not exactly a babe in arms nor a talent waiting to
explode. He is 22 years old and what you see is what you got. He is
lightning fast, yet easy to defend on the pro level. Really, have you seen
any natural PG skills in this guy, at least enough to cause Danny to
single-handedly raise Bank's stock from middling second-rounder to
lottery pick? Meanwhile, James seems like a great guy, a decent passer,
and a quick learner. But Metz has a point - don't forget that Danny's
first three PG choices were Antonio Daniels, Erick Strickland, and
Travis Best... none of them classic point guards. Guess Ainge and Obie
don't feel we need one.
Perkins is 18 years old with a great attitude and lots of upside. Wish I
could say the same about Banks.
