OK preseason is what 3 days old and i'm already sick of writers saying (in some

Magic to win the Atlantic). At best the Magic closed the gap a little, at
worst the teams are even.

While your analysis is quite green-biased, your basic conclusion seems correct:
it's by no means a given that the Magic will finish ahead of the Celtics, let
alone win the division. If you're Orlando playing the Celtics, you have to ask
yourselves: how do you like'em cupcakes?
But this sort of impressionability by "names" in paper lineups and the ratings
that reflect it are typical for most sportswriters. They do this sort of thing
every year. Remember when the Hawks were going to win the conference a couple
of years ago? Some were even impressed by the Celtics when that fool traded for
Baker. Orlando should be better, but so should the Celtics, if for no other
reason than that Walker and his enabler should be feeling far from secure about
their future here with Danny in charge. Walker's slimmer hips and Obie's hip
remarks about running more are the telltale signs.
