Lucky You: You Can Meet The Celtics In Lowell



If you want to fit in Lowell, you need to get on welfare and renounce English....
I wonder if there's a place you can bet on how man car-jackings will take place, while the Celtics are being met?  Whoops sorry, that's Lawrence.

'Meet the Celtics' night in Lowell 

LOWELL Fans of the Boston Celtics will have the chance to get a close-up view of their favorite players when the team hosts a free "Meet the Celtics" open practice at 7 p.m. next Tuesday at Tsongas Arena.  Celtics head coach Jim O'Brien and his staff will conduct practice and hold a scrimmage, giving fans their first look at the 2003-04 team.  In addition to returning All-Star co-captains Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce, fans can get their first glimpse of the newest members of the team, including first-round picks Marcus Banks and Kendrick Perkins, newly-acquired players Jumaine Jones and Mike James, and Reebok Pro Summer League standout Brandon Hunter.  Tickets for the event were available as of this morning at 10 at the Tsongas Arena box office. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Although admission is free, fans must have a ticket to enter the practice. 	
	
	





Celtics sign former Michigan State standout Cleaves

BOSTON (AP) The Boston Celtics have signed free agent guard Mateen Cleaves to their training camp roster. 
Cleaves, a former Michigan State standout who played for the Sacramento Kings last season, joins other rookie and free agent signees at the team's Waltham training camp before the veterans start reporting on Thursday. The team announced the move Tuesday. 
The 6-foot-2 Cleaves played 17 games for Sacramento last season, averaging 1.3 points in less than five minutes per game. Cleaves' best season was his rookie year with Detroit in 2000-01, when he averaged 5.4 points and 2.7 assists in 16.3 minutes per game.
