Re: James takes pressure off point

< ``I know Mike James was a guy who we were impressed with when we
scouted Miami,'' said O'Brien. ``He had great speed, and he was a dangerous
3-point shooter.

``What I didn't know was how he was going to react as a starting point
guard. I didn't know how his defense was going to hold up.'' > - Obie

Point guard priorities:
1) Speed
2) 3-point shooting ability
3) Defense

Possibly the only thing Obie and Danny are on the same page about
is that they agree we DO NOT need a classic distributor at PG.
Just let Pierce and our other players eat cake.

< Though he first offered a minimum-level contract to free agent
Travis Best, the Celtics' director of basketball operations sounded
almost glad when Best dug in for more money. >

Unsaid here is that Danny first offered the same contract to guards
Antonio Daniels, Erick Strickland, Bobby Sura, and was about to sit
down with Kenny A. had Kenny not taken umbrage at not being first
on Danny's list and for chump change at that. In a fit of temper, upon
hearing that even Best had balked at the contract offer, Ainge
impetuously turned to James claiming he had been his favorite
free agent PG all along.

Meanwhile, the combination of the LaFrentz tendonitis and
Battie's recurring knee problem has postponed any trade of
Battie/Brown (both had been showcased as starters) for the likes
of a Corey Maggette type scorer.
