Re: Interesting Ford/Aldridge Draft Scenario, Markster

I could live with any of those scenarios. Carbakapa sounds like an
interesting guy and he tends to get overlooked. I'm REALLY curious about
Diaw. I know the scoring numbers and Joe Johnson comparisons scare everyone,
and they worry me, too. But I also don't put much stock in stats or scouting
reports on these European guys because the systems and coaching are so weird
and the U.S. writers tend to just repeat what they've heard. The writers who
cover the sport over there, however, named Diaw the MVP of that league, so
they see something there. You watch his highlight video and the guy looks
awesome-one of those long-striders who seems to cover half the court in
three steps. He's apparently a great passer and unselfish to a fault-which
may be a problem for a small forward, but it isn't for a point guard.

Too many GMs and coaches look at guys like that and worry about what they
can't do-guard Stephon Marbury or Tony Parker. But think about what a 6-8
point guard CAN do. Delk can guard those guys, but is he what you want in a
point guard? If the Celts can't get Diaw, I hope he slides to the Mavs. Don
Nelson wouldn't be afraid to use him.

If that's the case, Orlando, who had Banks in for a workout,

Then perhaps it's Carbakapa and Diaw to the Celtics.
Or Carbakapa and Planinic. This may be the draft, where
everyone screws each other out of the players they wanted:
Orlando takes Banks, Celtics steal Carbakapa from the Suns,
Celtics take Planinic away from the Nets.

Or Pavlovic and trade down.
Sani Becirovic would be a good second round pick-up in
the thirties.
