Banks rumors seem true

Did the C's really guarantee the 16th or 20th pick to Marcus Banks and
his agent?  I looked for proof that he's working out for teams with
higher picks than the C's, which would mean there's no deal/guarantee.

1.  Several weeks ago an article had a statement from Banks agent,
saying they were looking forward to workouts with other teams besides
the Celtics.  

2.  Chad Ford and the espn guys said in an article that Banks was a "hot
riser after a few great workouts".

Yet from their mock drafts they seem to believe the rumored guarantee is
true.

3.  I didn't find any articles that say Banks is giving private
workouts.  He's not in the list of worked out players that the
Sonics/Knicks have released to nba.com, yet his rival PG's were on the
lists.

4.  Some poster on the real GM board who is a big Banks fan, claims to
have a relationship or insider info.  He says Ainge visited Banks at his
parents home and gave a guarantee.


To sum up the facts, it looks like Banks isn't giving private workouts
right now, so he probably did cut a deal with someone.  At 6'0 with no
shoes, the kid better be as strong, explosive, & competitive as Jay
Williams.  He compares size wise to Jay Williams, Linsay Hunter and JR,
not Baron Davis.
