Here's what stood out to me.
Banks certainly does like to push the ball and is lightening quick. I
don't
recall a single time however when he advanced the ball with a pass. One
time
early in the game he had Bremer all alone on the left side of the court.
Would have been a sure two points and might have kept Bremer from the funk
he fell
into by the second quarter.
If we are really going to be a running team then Banks will have to learn
there is more than one way to get the ball up the court.
He really needs to work on his shooting and his shot selection, but then
that
was the book on him during the draft so I guess it shouldn't come as any
surprise.
Someone mentioned that he kept playing hard until the very end. That was
very true on the offensive end. However he really let down badly on
defense in
the second half.
Hunter did a good job of getting the ball out quickly after a rebound. He
also did a very good job of using his body to move people out of the way
without
picking up a lot of cheap fouls. We did have trouble getting bodies on
people
for rebounds and it wasn't just Sundov it was Hunter and Kedrick too.
I know we were badly out rebounded in the first half and I don't think that
changed in the second.
I would have liked to have seen Perkins also. If it's really a sprained
foot
I doubt we will see him tomorrow. He may have been able to make a
difference
on the boards.
Kedrick still doesn't look to me like he thinks he belongs. This is the
summer league. If he lacks confidence going against guys who are
struggling just
to sit at the end of the bench somewhere, how is he going to find
confidence
once the season starts?
Once again he has a decent line, but never really stood out the way a third
year guy should.
He had a couple of nice outside shots and he did get to the line once, but
I'd like to see him take his guy a little more.
Bruno is not a center. It's isn't doing him or the team any good to be out
their pretending to be one. I realize we have a shortage of big men,
especially with Perkins out of the lineup, but I think we'd be better off
giving Hunter
the start in the middle. At least he knows what to do with the ball down
there.
He did have a couple of blocks, although one of them should have been a
foul.
I was surprised to see Clack out there. I thought he dislocated his
shoulder?
He never really got any opportunities, so it's hard to judge if he's
improved
at all.
He does look a little thinner.
So did Toby Baily. Unfortunately it didn't seem to help him at all. He
still looks very slow on the floor and has a lot of trouble on defense.
Recker looked like an old man out there. It didn't help that he wasn't
hitting the open shot when he got them.
Bremer looked like he was just going through the motions after the first
quarter.
Hard to figure what was going on there.
Maybe he let the officials get to him. He did get clobbered on more than
one
occasion without a foul call. We certainly could have gotten a few more
whistles. Nothing new there.
However, Bremer should be used to that by now.
I've been watching a lot of Summer League games and I must say the
officiating has been horrible across the board. Makes me appreciate the
NBA
guys....well,
maybe just a little bit. ;^ )
