Re: What will it take to drop salary?

The best movewould have been to deal Walker for an expiring contract or a deal with one year left...oops.

Regardless, Williams can be dumped for a pick if need be - a second rounder for a Euro?

Battie is approaching the movable stage.

No one will want Kedrick.

Let's do our job speculating. Battie to Philly, RaWeed to the Cs. What would it take?

Well, Philly doesn't have anyone with an expiring contract so forget them.

We got three options I can think of with Portland:

Deal 1)Baker, Kedrick and a no. 1? 2004 salary of 36 M ----Doubtful....

Deal 2)Battie, JJ, Kedrick, Mills and Walta and a no. 1? 2004 salary of 42 M ----Doubtful....

Deal 3)Battie, EWill, Mills and Kedrick? 2004 salary of 45 M ----Doubtful...

I can't figure what Danny thinks Portland would actually want from us to make a deal work. Maybe Deal 3 if you add a number 1. But is it worth it just to drop 7 million when it isn't far enough to make that much of a difference and the free agent class is supposed to be weak....

I will still look to drop Battie for a free agent and some future pick with someone else. That is a win-win sitz-e-ation....

Look at the Raptors, more promising. You got the following expiring contracts: Hakeem at 6.6 M, Curry at 2.8M, MoPete at 1.6M and Bradley at 1.3M. You don't think we could get a Battie and JJ, Kedrick or Walta and get something done?....
