I have two reasons why the press affected us so much at the start of the

Tommy correctly brings out that substituting is a science and you have to phase in
players to keep momentum. Obie came in with a cold Baker, Banks and JJ, a
semi-warm Blount to go with Kedrick, a guy who likes to hide on offense. Not
good. You saw the result....

Add one, that I think is actually more important and applies to more than just this game. We too often just leave whoever is being pressed hanging, especially once the inbound actually gets made, vs having some guys come back a bit spaced to open spots within range of a safe outlet. So we 'fight' the press with dangerous long passes, often to the wrong guy, or just leaving one guy to dribble through it on his own (some back court obstacle course picks by the big men would help there). Similar failure to come to the ball when someone else is getting in trouble annoys me no end in the half court as well, although in fairness I can't say that I have a high comfort level about everyone being smart enough to take good advantage of an outlet even if it's offered...
