RE: trades

Absolutely, but he had another one of those season-ending preseason injuries that only seem to happen to the Celtics. Last year it was Kedrick (of course, Kedrick has proven that his problems have nothing to do with injuries). This year, it's Jones. The guy missed the preseason and struggled when he came back. Is that supposed to be a surprise? So the solution is to bury him behind Walter? I guess he hasn't had enough time to practice his "blitz" technique.

Anyway... yes, Jumaine Jones could be that guy. But Obie has buried him. He hasn't let him play his way back into shape or get his timing back. It's typical Obie. It's also another reason why an EWill trade wouldn't break my heart, especially if Kedrick were included - Obie would be forced to play Jones.

BUT... the small forward spot is a problem in THIS offense. Would I love to see Obie gone and a true passing game implemented? Absolutely. But, dealing with the current reality, a small forward who could knock down shots would be a huge help.

Isnt this why we got Jumaine Jones?

His stats from last year:

Year Team G FG FGP FT FTP 3PT 3PTP RPG APG SPG TPG BPG PPG

2002 CLE 80 308 43.4 57 68.7 111 35.4 5.06 1.40 0.84
1.34 0.28 9.80

I was expecting to see his points up around 14 and his rebounds up to 6.5 or 7 a game this year with Walker gone and that he would be on a team where he should be the starting SF. As for OB Ball, he hit 111 3s last year at a 35 percent clip.

The point guards look for their shots WAY too much, wasting possessions when the ball should go to Baker/Pierce or even Lafrentz, the third most talented offensive player on the team. So you're right... the team could use a legit distributing point guard. But I don't think that's coming. I think Ainge wants Banks to develop, and the only way another point guard comes in is if Mike James goes out. Otherwise, you have a point guard rotation of New Guy and Mike James, with Banks benched. That's just Obie.

Of course there will be growing pains and foul trouble. But give the kid a shot. Hunter, I'm not as sure of, but I'd like to see if he can rebound. If they're going to be non-factors on the offensive end anyway, then why not a guy who works hard and rebounds?
