RE: Last Shot

I read that Pierce also missed his last five shots. It
was a tough call. I guess in those moments, you could be
better off diagramming for your taller 3-point specialist
to get off that type of shot, when everyone in the
building knows its a three.

The play made Walker into a bigger goat, but at this
stage I'm not sure I would have wanted one clutch shot to
make the rest of the night's poor shooting performance
disappear.

I have to agree that unless he's one of the hot hands
(which often he can be), almost any other game this
season where Walker shoots 23 times is no longer ideal.
In the past, he was the main scorer. We could live with
it. There's no reason why he should be missing 18 shots.

He missed a bunch of early putbacks and finishes, in part
because he was rushing it and altering his shots. Last
night at least, he showed he was a mediocre finisher.

He's almost better shooting off of his own dribble,
rather than catching and closing the deal off of lobs and
that sort of thing. A lot of big forwards do the latter
thing a lot better, in the same situations.

But it was one game. How many times do you suppose Walker
and Pierce will miss their last 13 shots combined in the
fourth quarter this year? They've said all the right
things, and no doubt believe their own hype and best
spins. So now its damn good that they have to shut up and
play a lot of games in a short span. Just go out and
play. Walk the walk.
