Why? Well, I'll tell you. I. Salary Cap Friendly: The Pistons are projected out at $31 million next season, which should give them a good $13 million of cap space play around with, based on next season's cap being set at around $44 million. Very encouraging to a Celtics team that needs to drop below the Luxury Tax limit. II. Detroit needs a Walker type. That they do, as they're terrific defensively, but lack scoring and a go-to-guy on the offensive end for the playoffs. Which is why, there are rumors afloat, that the Pistons may be interested in Sprewell. III. Walker's a good fit. With the shot-blocking and rebounding ability of Ben Wallace, and the Pistons overall defensive containment, they can get by with Walker playing the role of the point/small forward and the frequent defensive breakdowns that will result. IV. Detroit will likely have one of the top four choices in the upcoming draft. Unless Memphis ends up with the top pick, Detroit via the Otis Thorpe trade, is entitled to the Grizzlies' choice in the 2003 draft. A perfect opportunity for the Celtics to get a young Big Man at a reduced cost to man the Center position for the next twelve years. Ray Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now
