BLIND SQUIRREL FINDS ACORN

Ugly, disgusting game for the C's. It looked like a city league game. Even
Pierce looked horrible. I must say that I really hate to see PIerce bringing
down the ball on the break because he usually means that he is going to
attempt to penetrate at the top of the key where his turnover rate is about
50%. He is much better player on the wing or in the post...

Even after all these dark clouds, there still is a silver lining. That blind
squirrel Obie found an acorn by moving Pierce to the 2 and inserting Rogers
in there with Walker and Battie. We finally get some size in there with a
threat at every position (go with me on Battie). Granted he couldn't do it in
the first because Rogers came down with early foul trouble. I just had to
smile when it finally happened after all these years. Then I was just hoping
and pleading that we would get instant results because you know that our
blind squirrel was only going to try this once. Sure enough, we get instant
payoff with Rogers getting an OFFENSIVE REBOUND over Brian Grant, something
we haven't seen in these parts in some time. The offense was then also
clicking leaving Strickland wide open. It would be to much to ask Obie to let
us have this lineup again since I'm sure he thinks we just do this when we go
against big teams. We will have to go back to our small lineups with Delk at
the two or Erik Williams because that is what we do and we are loyal....

Hopefully this was the breakout game for Strickland and we will get another
run from him like we had earlier in the season. I couldn't believe that Delk
was started instead of Strickland. Even though Strickland has his
limitations, he has many more point guard skills than Delk. Delk is simply a
backup player and he can perform well in the role. Obie is just asking to
much from him and I think it is hurting his game. Look, the trade is over and
we can't do anything about it. If we resign Rogers, we can rationalize that
Rogers wouldn't have signed with us unless we had this tryout period. If
Rogers resigns and the help he gives us this year, we can say the trade was
worth it. So let's just forget this Delk as a starter business. But back to
Strickland, it was nice to see in replay that Walker was pointing to
Strickland as the open guy when Rogers passed it to Strickland for the nail
in the coffin shot....

I had predicted that Miami was going to be done this year but I still thought
that they were going to be a 7 or 8 seed. I thought they would be down
because of the lack of a point guard, the loss of inspirational Hardaway, and
the recovering Zo. Well, Zo is actually playing better than I thought he
would. However, what is killing them is the lack of point guard and the rules
changes. The rule changes really minimizes Zo's inside game. This exposes the
rest of the team that they really don't have the dominant outside shooter
they need like a Stackhouse or Pierce. Eddie Jones has been exposed to just
be a nice complimentary player. They still have a nice team and it could be a
great team if they just could get a scorer...
