RE: GP vs. Kidd..and the MVP.

Let me see...Payton vs Kidd.

I hate em both...but respect their abilities. That said, I'll agree with
Pete when he says gimme Payton on my team. This guy will do anything to win
a ballgame. Kidd blows kisses to his wife at the free throw line one day,
then is arrested for assaulting her the next, yet Payton is a jerk? Come
now.

Hmm Pierce isn't a poor passer....
And GP is a jerk...but then again Kidd isn't exactly a saint.

But getting past the "appreciate" crack. What kind of argument is that?
Man..I thought this list was for intelligent exchange of opinions.

Back to GP vs. Kidd
Lets face it...GP is the complete package. He is five years older then Kidd
and well past his prime. But he is still alot better.

He Averages 9.1 dishes...
and turns it over only 2.4 times a game.

Kidd Averages 9.8 assists and turns it over
3.6 times a game.

Edge GP.

GP shoots .462 from the field
He averages 22.0 points a game..or 13th in the NBA.

Kidd...
Shoots .362 from the field
and averages 14.5 points per game.

Huge advantage GP.

As far as defensive ability goes...we all know GP is much better.
He can stop the dribble penetration better which is the most important
aspect
for a point guard. Kidd on the other hand doesn't even really try to stop
it.

Dribble penetration....its the hallmark of good defense for a point.
A good defense team needs a point who can slow the dribble penetration and
a shot blocking force.

If you haven't notice Kidd fails in the playoffs. True likely Jersey will
make it through
the first round this year. But I doubt they will get beyond that. Why?

Well in playoff basketball...teams get back on defense and slow or stop the
transition game. Kidd is a defensive liabilty and gets beat off the dribble
in the half
court - setting up the opposing team for big plays. Kidd with his poor
shooting is
also a weakness in the half court offense.

I mean look at the the Celtics game. KA had 10 assists and 0 turnovers
playing against Kidd. If your an opposing Point guard having Kidd play you
is
a taste of heaven.

There is no way Kidd deserves MVP. Much like Walker the guy is a flawed
player.
He does some basketball things very well...but he so flawed defensively and
with
regards to shooting that he often hurts his team when it counts.

It was great trading that cancer away from a talented NJ team.
But they could have traded him for someone else and seen improvement too.
