BOSTON (AP)- The Boston Celtics on Monday hired Joe Gallagher as an
assistant coach.
Celtics head coach Jim O'Brien said Gallagher was brought in to help
develop the team's post play.
Gallagher, who has three decades of coaching experience at the collegiate
level, recently completed his third year as an assistant coach at
Campbell University, where he also served as recruiting coordinator.
Gallagher also has served as assistant coach at the University of
Richmond and at Boston College from 1986 to 1991.
A native of Philadelphia, Gallagher averaged 20 points and 13.3 rebounds
during four years at Pembroke State. He was drafted in 1968 by the
Kentucky Colonels of the American Basketball Association.
