How about asking him to clarify Bremer's contract. My understanding it is
partially guaranteed through training camp and he has to make the team. If he
does, then it is only for this season and the C's hold the option on Year 2.
1) Does that mean if a veteran FA fell through the cracks - Travis Best, Tim
Hardaway, Greg Anthony, Jeff McInnis et al. and by chance was still out on a
street corner come the beginning of October, there is a chance that a vet
could take Bremer's spot and the other roster spot could go to a big?
2) How locked into keeping only 12 bodies are they? Would Gaston under any
circumstances OK exceeding $52M or wherever the payroll is and take a minor
one year luxury tax hit to add another player (or two)? It seems to me that
spending another $2-4 M could add enough talent and depth to spell a huge
difference.
