Subject: [Celtics' Stuff National Basketball Association Standings By
Conference


   Looking at the standings (see below) and the recent records of some of
the teams, one would expect that the Celtics could stumble a bit and still
reach the playoffs.
  Washington was  falling, even before the season threatening knee surgery
to Jordan. Toronto has lost eight in a row. Even Charlotte, who was hot, has
lost three straight.
  Milwaukee and New Jersey have weathered all storms and are solid. Detroit
seems to have found itself and realizes that if they play hard every night,
they can beat talent, most nights. Indiana should be ale to move up and grab
the fourth home court advantage, but if the Celtics focus on the task and
work a bit harder on rebounding and consistent, unselfish play, we could
easily have a home series. If the playoffs started today, we would host
Orlando at the Fleet.
  Even if Charlotte moves up and/or Miami puts on  a real charge, it would
take a total collapse by the C's to tarnish the dream.
