Baker In The Process Of Rejuvunating His Career

Will McDonough
Boston Globe - 8/10/02

To illustrate to the team he means to get in better shape than he ever
did in Seattle, Vin Baker is moving into the Boston area next week and
working out daily at the Celtics' practice facility right into the
season. The Celtics made the trade for Baker because they looked at who
was going to be available in free agency next summer and felt they would
not have the money to sign the good players. Looking at a three-year
picture, the Celtics' front office decided the best bet was Baker, if he
pays more attention to basketball and less to his social life, as he did
in Seattle.

(This story comes straight from the mouth of Chris Wallace - great
spinning by the Celtics
management. Wonder what they promised McDonough?)

(In other interesting news, the Red Sox are losing $20 million this
season, but will
have $25 mil. to spend on free agents. Imagine if Paul Gaston lost
$20 million, instead of making a a sweet profit. Don't think he'd be
spending
$25 M. anytime soon on free agents....)
