Celtics offering McCarty contract

orward Walter McCarty has been offered the veteran minimum by the
Celtics for next season. Now, it's up to McCarty to decide if he will
accept the offer as the free agency market tightens. When the Celtics
lost to the New Jersey Nets in the Eastern Conference finals in May, it
was assumed McCarty had played his last game in a Boston uniform. But
that was before attempts to re-sign Rodney Rogers failed and the Celtics
traded for Vin Baker and Shammond Williams. Now Boston has two roster
spots to fill. It appears center Mark Blount will sign with Denver in
the next couple of days
