Re: Moiso on the trading block again

I don't know how this validates anything about our trade of Moiso, but
that's not worth getting into. But here's a question: Wouldn't we like to
have the package Charlotte is getting instead of Kenny Anderson? We could
have traded Anderson for Coleman, but said no. If we do that deal, then the
Coleman-to-Philly deal, then instead of Kenny Anderson, we have Tractor
Traylor, Jerome Moiso (or another cap filler), George Lynch and Chris
Porter. With Lynch the only one on a long-term deal (and at a fraction of
the price Kenny is paid annually). Like I said before, teams will take a
chance on troubled, cancerous big men. The "braintrust" should have realized
that. Oh well. Opportunity lost.

Philadelphia will send George Lynch in return, along with Traylor and Moiso.

So it appears that Philadelphia's giving up a draft pick for Moiso was
wasteful, unless you believe that Moiso is anything more than cap
fodder in this trade.

And I also think it validates our trading Moiso for the draft pick as
a good move.

The Hornets were on the verge Thursday morning of trading Derrick
Coleman's massive contract to the Philadelphia 76ers for a package of
players that would include former Tar Heel forward George Lynch.

The trade would also include the Golden State Warriors, a source
familiar with the negotations told The Observer. According to the
source, the Hornets will receive Lynch - a defensive specialist - plus
power forwards Robert Traylor and Jerome Moiso. The Hornets are also
expected to receive former Auburn guard Chris Porter from the
Warriors.

By trading away Coleman, the Hornets will free themselves of an
unhappy and underachieving player. Under the contract the Hornets
signed him to, Coleman is owed $8.7 million this season and $9.4
million next season.

Lynch is the only one of the four new Hornets with a long-term
guarantee, and he looks like a keeper. It's possible the Hornets might
waive Traylor, who has only this season left on his contract. Moiso, a
first-round pick in 2000, would have this season and next guaranteed
under the rookie pay scale. He's been a disappointment so far, and had
already been traded from Boston to Philadelphia
