Drooling for Dooling

This "insider" was posted originally on JB's board. The Clippers' Keyon
Dooling is now the second Y2K draft point guard after Speedy Claxton making
noise this year (although its not really clear why from his stats).

BTW, the Sixers must have one of the deepest backcourts in memory. Claxton,
Eric Snow, Aaron McKie and (Shaw MVP) Raja Bell all probably have trade
value if they went to market. Matt Harpring (12.5ppg) can also play
shooting guard. That's six quality players (including Iverson). Pretty
uncommon depth.

------

With second-year point guard Keyon Dooling coming on strong -- and getting
compared to Gary Payton, the Clippers aren't likely to pay McInnis big
money and then have to work on an extension for Dooling the summer after that.

According to the Sacramento Bee, the Clippers concede the contradiction
between having a better chance to win now with McInnis while realizing
Dooling is the best pick for the future. McInnis is as steady as they come,
but Dooling has a flair and a defensive upside that makes him hard to ignore.
Teams are already lining up with arms wide open should the Clippers decide
to jettison either Dooling or McInnis (as well as Odom or Maggette), but if
the Clippers follow true to form, they'll do nothing and lose at least a
couple of their marquee players and get nothing in return.
