I suspect it was because the Wizards were playing a small lineup and he
would have had tremendous difficulty stopping penetration and/or getting out
on Laettner.  Of course, it didn't matter much that the more athletic Battie
and Blount were playing as they had no clue as to how to defend in that
situation.
