NBA's welcome mat not out for former Arizona standouts

this sort of "projection" reminds me of the annual HongKong Top Ten
Most Popular Song Awards. It is a open secret that only singers who
ATTEND are given awards!!!

NBA's welcome mat not out for former Arizona standouts

When commissioner David Stern turns to shake hands for each pick at
the podium during next week's NBA draft, he won't meet any former
University of Arizona players.
That's because none of them have been invited to the New York City
party.
In what may indicate an expectation that no ex-Arizona players will be
taken in the 13-player lottery section of the draft, neither center
Loren Woods nor shooting guard Richard Jefferson were extended one of
12 invitations. Guard Gilbert Arenas, who is projected as a late
first-round pick, also did not get invited.
NBA officials say the invitations are given to the players whom
personnel around the league believe are likely to be among the top
picks.
The news was a big surprise for the agents of Woods and Jefferson, who
have seen their clients projected in the top 10 by some analysts.
Jefferson's agent, Todd Eley of National Sports Management, said he
guaranteed that the top 12 picks won't all be spent on players invited
to attend the draft.
Woods' agent, former Arizona player Matt Muehlebach, said Woods could
be considered a top-five pick. Woods still has plenty of potential and
is gaining strength, Muehlebach said, but questions about his weight
and back surgeries may be continuing to hover.
