Diop

Ok I think I am back with my hope for Diop falling to the Celtics.  Although I'm not sure if he will, we just need to give him time.  If you read in ESPN magazine, he picks up things very very fast.  He went from barely speaking English to in 2 years, helping tutor people with English.

If he can pick up on basketball that fast, with him being a 7 footer and having great athletic ability, he could be our Dikembe type presence.  An intimidator to help alter shots, haven't the Celtics had a problem for a while with interior defense?  Especially since there's zone next year, having him in the paint I believe would really help out.

He may be young, but if he's willing to learn, he really could be a future all-star.

I mean when's the last time the Celtics had a good Center?  Parish?

I'm hoping that Diop not working out for many teams will drop him down in the draft.  The only way we would be able to get him though is if someone picks Gasol ahead of us.  That's the only chance we have.  I have a feeling the unless picked already, Troy Murphy is a lock at 11.

An outside shooting and interior presence?  Couple that with Omar Cook at 21 and this team will really have been upgraded.

The only thing is, with Detroits need for a big man too, would they pass on Diop at #9?  I hear that they are interested in Haywood, but over Diop?

Either way, someone will fall to us.  Johnson would be nice too.  I still think there will be a few draft day lottery pick trades, but am thinking more and more that the Celts will not be part of that.  I could see Gasol getting picked right before us, like when we got screwed with Nowitzki (I'm still happier we have Pierce).

Is anyone else hoping for Diop?
