Re: Trade em.

Title: Re: Trade em.
Well, I never thought my little post "Trade em" was going to get such a strong reaction(see below). It's funny that way, the one's I appreciate and wait for resposes, just to see the reactions, never seem to produce any. Now I have to defend a post that meant little to me and I really only half meant.
First, my reference to  "Moiso, Blount, Palacio and Sesar," the incomplete, or even absent projects, the team already has, is to cast possible aspersions on drafting more, not to think these are championship caliber players. Au contraire! Just remember there is a 15 man roster and Walter and Williams and Brown and Anderson are already guaranteed contracts, without much debate that they are championship caliber players either. That's a lot of dead weight. Add Battie, Antoine, Pierce and Potapenko, who had better contribute at close to championship level, and we are at 12. I know we don't have to sign Cesar, which makes 11 and if Brown retires, (would you?) and I'm guessing he visits Lourdes and comes in to camp "in the best shape of my career" we're down to 10. How many projects can the team afford to have on it's roster? You can't expect more than two of these picks to make the roster anyway.
My second intention, other than to identify some players I like, was to convey the impression that a young stud, too impressed with himself and lots of new money, might not jell with what we have now. I'd rather bring in a Bibby or Ratlif type, who I know will play in a professional manner and with out much selfishness. Yes, Kobe or McGrady may pass me bye, but what are the odds on that? I've said before that if Curry or whoever is the franchise center, than by all means, do whatever is neccessary to get him, but if they (coach and GM) are wrong, they are gone. Pretty tough decision to make. If it were me I might go with the known commodity.

Jim, do you really think the likes of Sesar, Moiso Blount and Palacio are going to take us to the next level?

Subject: Trade em.

My draft strategy is simple: trade em.
I want no part of a teenager with an attitude and millions of dollars in guaranteed contracts.
We have just finished four excruciating years of same.
We have Moiso, Blount, Palacio and Sesar to develop, that's enough.
Our needs are a starting center, a starting point guard and a wing player with shooting range and defensive tenacity. While there are draftable players with those skills, most of them are a few years away from being able to displayay them at the NBA level.

Get me Bibby,Ratlif,Antonio Davis,Alvin Williams, or even Brandon(contract and all, if they take Anderson) or Szczerbiak.
There are two free agents I like for this team. Nazr Mohammed and Jerome Williams. Could we package a pick and a contract in a sign and trade and beat the market on signing these two?
Give me one draft pick and I'd take a shot at Haywood or Loren Woods. I'd take a shot at Tinsley or Jefferson, but this is not a situation for another project player, let alone three.
One thing I might do is trade Denver back it's pick for an unprotected pick next year.
