why Tinsley

I think the reported interest of Sir Michael in Tinsley brings up an
interesting point about our draft gurus. None have played the game.
Now, that is not an automatic disqualifier by any means. But if
Jordan's interest in Tinsley is real, and I suspect it is, then that
carries a lot of weight. I suspect if Larry Bird said the same thing,
most Celtic's fans would march along in line.

What Jordan sees, I think, is this. Tinsley has the ability to lead a
team. It's instinctive. It's built on self-confidence--that sense
that I will get it done. A poster on the ESPN board suggested Tinsley
was toying with his college opposition, and after seeing about a dozen
of their games (via TV) this year, that statement rings true. Tinsley
seems to operate without much effort. But he brings his teammates
into the offense, he gets into the lane when necessary, he scores as
needed. Then, on defense he shows very quick feet and hands.

Of course, I tend to question those I have not seen very much of. So
I question the abilities of O. Cook and others. But Tinsley I have
seen for two years. He's got the stuff. It's not blazing speed or
50hooting, but it's the ability to win. I think he's under-rated,
actually, and much more than merely the best pg in this draft. I
would choose him over any pg from last year or next year--yes, I think
he would bring a team along better than J. Williams.

So, there. I like him. And because he's 23 and fully developed, some
will prefer the "potential" players. Not me.

Cheers, Gene
