notes

I'm making notes for a letter to Chris:

l. Be patient. Let the draft come to you. This is a golden
opportunity and we hold some very good cards. If we need a few more
quality athletes and depth, we might fill those needs. There doesn't
appear to be one player worth trading up for.

2. One coveted player will drop to us. We may not get both White and
Johnson to fall, or Diop or Gasol. But one of the players we really
want is likely to fall to us. Let it happen. Don't be too anxious to
trade up since our spots at ten and eleven may turn out to be as good
as those from four to nine. And two is usually better than one.
Note: the teams in front of us do not have to make a big mistake for
this to happen. They just have different needs and value players
differently.

3. Good, all-around players can help our team achieve its
optimum--they do not have to be superstars in the making. Battier is
a good example. Also, Tinsley. Those two make everyone on the floor
a better player.

4. Drop us a note on the list and let us know what's going on. Use a
cryptic name like Russell Bird. We'll know who it is and keep your
secret.

Oh well. Any ideas. Gene
