Re: interesting, disturbing news from Peter May

I smell smoke. I would not think that they would make it so obvious who they are after. It could be White, Griffin, Richardson or Battier they are truly after, especially since we probably do not have room to sign for 3 new players.

Subject: interesting, disturbing news from Peter May

In today's Globe, Peter May says, citing "league sources," that the Celtics might
look to package up their picks to get Pau Gasol.  He mentions specifically Chicago
(4), Vancourver (6), and Golden State (5).  Personally, this bums me out.  I don't know
how good Gasol is, but A) is he really better than Joe Johnson AND Brendan Haywood
AND Joe Forte?  Or Rodney White AND Loren Woods AND whoever?  May suggests
that Golden State also owns the 15th pick, so maybe it woudn't be a three for one deal,
but here's my other though (B):  if you are picking that high, would you really take Pau
Gasol over Desagana Diop, Tyson Chandler, Rodney White, Jason Richardson, etc. etc.?
There might even be a shot at Kwame Brown / Eddie Curry / Eddie Griffin.

So this rumor bothers me two ways.

The other news, also reported by Peter Vescey, is that Charlotte is interested in trading
Derrick Coleman for Kenny Anderson.  Coleman's a bigger cancer, but he can still produce
on the court; they both make about the same money.  Also, I suspect that if Charlotte wants
the trade bad enough, they might be induced to sweeten the deal with a player or pick.

what do you guys think?
