I said “almost” as good a winning a championship - not “on a par”. And to further qualify, his leaving would perhaps give the Celtics a chance to get out of the rut - Pitino, by his attack on the fans, had alienated many who were previously more positive about him. Anyway, that was the way I felt when he left - positive. I was speaking for myself - not anyone else. It was pretty obvious to the most casual fan that the entire attitude of the players changed with his leaving. I hope he's happy and successful back in college ball, which is where he should have stayed.
