Re: A quote Pierce and Walker should see

We are not talking top here, we are talking respectability as in winning 41-45 games. Both of them are way better than the crap we have had at these spots. Billups in those days too could defend opposing point guards and yes it takes time for a pg out of college to mature. He would still have been better than anybody we have now.

Mercer's contract is a different matter altogether and I don't know how much Chicago paid him eventually, but Pitino could have waited for Mercer to finish his last year look at the market and then sign him to an appropriate contract. I would rather have Walker, Pierce, Mercer, Billups and Battie and Griffin than the lineup that we have now. - Mishra

Mercer and Billups were not the answer to getting us back to the top. Mercer passed on 4 year $28M and wanted the max like Antoine. That was all we need two incomplete players making the max that are not and will never be leaders we need. Billups is playing well at the two spot where he probably always should have been, but is has taken him a while to get there. He was a bone head with the C's and made a lot of mistakes.

I am not confusing Chicago situation but answer this: Which young talent has Krause given away ???

The answer obviously is none. Now ask the same question in the Celtics case. Not only have we given away talent we have aquired nut-case in return. - Mishra

Don't confuse Chicago's situation with any form of genius on the part of Jerry Krause. This past off-season, Chicago were throwing around money to anyone who would take it.....Tracy McGrady, Glenn Rice, Rashad Lewis, Mo Taylor, et al. Who did they end up with?  Ron Mercer and Brad Miller, and had to overpay them to go there. I wouldn't say that's a case for maintaining the integrity of their current roster.

Cheers,

Simon
