The blame pie.

I'm tired and cranky this morning. Stayed up to watch the game and have
to go to work, on less than a full tank. I am also piqued from reading a lot
of opinions on why the team sucks again, topped off, by a very revealing
piece in the Herald, this AM.
From Bulpet's column:``We're just letting nature take its course,''
general manager Chris Wallace said. ``Hopefully we'll see if he can get
healthy. That would be the best thing. When he was healthy last year, he
helped us a lot.''
Pretty much confirming my yesterday's query that money is the reason we
are not signing anyone else this year. Half of the exception; 2.5 million
that we could use to sign a player, or players, will not be used, because we
will need Randy Brown next year. Horse radish. Bulpet, at least, saw the
light through Wallace's brown eyes and went on to analyze the murky, luxury
tax picture.
As for last night's game, it's in the eye of the beholder, I guess. The
Anderson haters can blame Kenny and the salmon shushi. The Pierce lovers can
blame the coach, for telling Paul not to shoot for half the game.
Most of the paid scribes had this one right, I suspect. Utah is too big
for us underneath and went long stretches with a big lineup that we couldn't
defend, couldn't rebound against and couldn't shoot over. Add to that, the
ref's bias' and believe me there was one, both because we were on the road
and because of Karl Malone's mugging/theatrics from the Nets game, which is
still big news in Utah. Stir in Utah's penchant for getting timely and easy
baskets, while various Boston defenders opened their Christmas presents and
we had a loss on the road.
As long as everyone else is grinding axe's this AM, I'll ply my own.
Utah, was able to go deeper into their bench than we. At the end of the
game, unlike in Boston, they were rested and composed; we were huffing,
puffing and running on fumes, wondering where the game went. How long does
anyone think Anderson can keep up a 40 minute per game pace? Wouldn't
another banger have helped last night? No problem holding on to the rookies
and letting them mature slowly, but Blount and Palacio are useless, not NBA
quality and for short money, particularly because we have those rookies,
both not producing and playing the wrong positions to help us now, we should
replace them both. What's out there? Let's bring in a few players on 10 day
contracts and take a look, before other teams, with injury problems, beat us
to it, as in the cases of Vaughn and Trent.
