I see some validity in this point, but the question arises "what were the
last two years exactly?". It's a worthy statement to make if we made the
playoffs, but we didn't even make the 8th spot in a genuinely weak
conference. Fine Griff and Stith (wow...that almost rhymes) are solid
veterans and a worthy addition to any squad, but I see them as being able to
be the "glue" on a contender, not a team that wins 35 or 36 games in a
season. Otherwise what exactly do you have to "glue" together? Yeah, it
could be worse...we could be a Memphis/GSW, but it could be a lot better
too.

I think the priority is to get, or develop, some "stars" then add the glue.
There's more than a few Mario Elie's/Chuck Person's out there to be had for
the minimum if you obtain the stars to put them around. If getting rid of a
Bryant Stith lets you free up a roster spot or get more minutes for a
potential star player like Joe Johnson to develop, I'm all for it.
Realistically, I don't see us landing a great FA even in a sign & trade
without giving up a Pierce/Walker, so I don't see us with too many options
other than to develop the way Wallace's actions suggest.

Just my #0.02 :)
