RE: new rules

They're not done deals, but they've been recommended, and the Board of
Governors is expected to approve them.

I'm tired of isolation basketball. I'll be honest, as nice as this stretch
of good play has been for the Celtics, I still hate the way they play. They
walk it up and isolate either Paul or Toine and let them either shoot or
pass out of the double team. I know it's the most effective way for this
team to play, and I know that's what most of the NBA is doing, but I don't
like it at all.

The NBA has been a "star's league" but why can't it be a "team's league?"
The stars will still get their points, but these rules changes are designed
to eliminate the "give it to Vince and get out of the way" offense that
dominates the NBA these days. It's about time they did something to make
coaches earn their keep. They're all such sheep. They do what everyone else
does--what's easy, and that's isolation. Let's see some offense back in this
game. Some movement.

The officiating is a whole different story. Rome wasn't built in a day...

Mark,
those are pretty radical changes. (No more offensive goaltending calls?)
Are you sure they are done-deal adoptions? It sounds terrible to me.
Who wants to see the box and one on Vince Carter or Paul Pierce?
The NBA is still a star's league...I don't think you'll see a complete
shift to zone, and a good thing, too. It would make Pitino types the
stars, with their complex "systems."

How about they just start officiating fairly? How's that for a radical
suggestion?
