Info On Potential Celtic Draftee: Primoz Brezec

The thing that is impressive about him is that he has shooting
guard skills in a 7-1 body. I'm thinking a potential Dirk
Nowitzki type. The sooner you get him into the American system
(Read: weightlifting, techniques, coaching) the
bigger the impact he'll have.

Size and Athletic Abilities
Tall and mobile, needs more strength. He is reasonably fast, can start a
fast-break with an outlet pass and finish it off with a dunk on the
other end.

Offense
Versatile player who can make a good job on the lane but also has skills
to step out and play on the perimeter. Primoz started playing as a
shooting guard and those skills are still present at 7'1'' (215cm).
Before moving to Olimpija he was more a forward then a post player.
Actually his game is much more limited. He plays exclusively at the
post, where he still lacks some strength and stability to perform well.
More athletic players often put him off-balance. He has the moves though
and he shows improvement with every game. Rebounds aggressively and with
some success.

Defense
On defense he does well but nothing special. His height and his mobility
are too much for many of the players he guards in Slovenia.
Internationally, stronger or faster not necessarily taller opponents
read him well enough to get him on the wrong foot and get easy baskets
or draw a foul. His stance is to high and weight distribution wrong so
there is still much improve upon. He forgets to box-out his man on
occasion, but he is a reliable rebounder nevertheless.

Notes
Brezec is a great talent and a hard worker. That is usually enough to
become a great player but we’ll just have to wait and see.
