Next year

I haven't posted too much and haven't had a lot of patience with some of the
postings as I'm recovering (hopefully) from serious illness but I've got some
time to throw out some key ideas from my tortured (long time Celtic) mind.

There will be drastic changes on many teams disrupting chemistry. We have to
minimize this and should keep Walker, Pierce, VP, Griffin, Fortson, Chaney.

Kenny, although a big part of the continuity, is a bad part of it and has to
go. Where? The Knicks -- he'd fit their system well. Give me either of their
much maligned PGs and whatever else it takes from a salary cap perspective.
Either Ward or Childs would fit better here.

If the Hawks continue to liquidate salary for the 2001 FA's then I repeat
what I've suggested before: Barros & Minor for Wright. They rid themselves of
the biggest longterm contract that they need to dump in exchange for
capspace. We get an underachiever who I think can still be a very productive
rebounding/defending big man.

Use our 2 million exemption on a veteran point. Would absolutely love Greg
Anthony but will settle for his type. Mark Jackson would only work, IMHO, if
our primary point was a defensive wiz.

Depending on who's there when we pick at 11, I expect it to be a big man who
will need seasoning but I'm hoping for OO. I really want Cleaves too but not
with this pick. He's the kind of player that will pay dividends well beyond
the statline.

Could the Clippers be conned into Tony Battie for the 18th pick? Could get
Cleaves at that point.

Second round? If we end up with the pick we draft another point guard.

Lineup:

C - VP, Wright, Fortson
PF - Walker, Fortson, OO
SF - Griffin, Pierce, Walker
SG - Pierce, Chaney
PG - Childs/Ward, Anthony/Jackson, Cleaves

Just some ramblings that might be medically impaired.
