C's Hire JoJo!

Now there is a step in the right direction! 76 Finals
MVP, baby:

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Celtics announced today that
JoJo White, a standout player on two Celtics World
Championship teams, has been hired as Director of
Special Projects and Community Relations
Representative. In his new role with the Celtics,
White will have a wide range of responsibilities
within the Marketing, Community Relations and
Basketball Operations departments.

"We are excited to have JoJo returning to the Boston
Celtics in a front office capacity," said Executive
Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief
Financial Officer Richard Pond. "He is a true team
player who always thought of the Celtics before
himself. We look forward to utilizing his off-court
talents in hopes that he will assist the front office
the same way he led the team on the parquet."

White, who the Celtics selected with their first pick
in the 1969 draft out of Kansas University, spent the
first 10 years of his 12-year playing career with
Boston. He finished his career with the Celtics
averaging 18.3 points per game, leading the team in
scoring once and in assists four times. A sterling
post-season performer, White played key roles in
Boston's run to both the 1973-74 and 1975-76 world
titles, finishing with a 21.5 career playoff scoring
average. He played 60 minutes in the Celtics historic
triple-overtime win over the Phoenix Suns on the
Boston Garden's parquet floor in the 1976 NBA Finals,
and was later named the series Most Value Player.
White is still remembered as one of the most durable
Celtics, as his streak of 488 consecutive games played
remains a franchise record. A seven-time all-star,
White's number 10 jersey was retired by the Celtics in
a ceremony at the Boston Garden on April 9, 1982.

"I have stayed in touch with the Celtics over the
years and now I am looking forward to working with
those in the front office," said White. "It is one of
my goals to help bring the Celtics back to the
championship level I experienced here during my
playing days. I hope to assist as many people in the
organization as I can."
