thoughts on Moiso

OK, so we hate the pick. But let's look at the possible upsides. Even
if we can't have Gene's equanimity, we can try to be reasonable.

1) Pitino clearly didn't draft for need with this pick. I believe this was
a
clear case of drafting the best available athlete. Alexander doesn't have
the upside Moiso does, apparently; or maybe there was some other
reason for not taking him (his posse, etc.). Although I have to say that
those hip Keanu suits on him and Mini-me were very cool.

2) This didn't come out everywhere, but the "very tough" guy that Moiso
dominated in the workouts, wheeling around and dunking on several times,
was none other than Olijde Olumide, the very player many of us wanted the
celtics to take specifically for his defense and rebounding. I find that
interesting, to say the least.

3) Moiso's probably stepping in to replace Danny Fortson on the roster.
But there aren't enough minutes for Fortson; so either we bring him along
slow at Fortson's minutes, or Tony is on the move. Either way, we are
looking at a trade, either a sign+trade for Fortson, or Battie for a point
guard hopefully. We still need a point guard in the worst way.

4) Finally, as Pitino's comments indicate, this is a step back toward a
pressing, fast breaking team. Hopefully the rest of the summer will bring
moves to get rid of Kenny Anderson and other non-hackers, along with
their burdensome salaries. We still haven't signed, Paul Pierce yet,
remember, and when we do all cap room will be gone. I can't imagine how our
cheap prick owner is going to try to deal with the luxury tax. (By selling,
hopefully; you have to figure the luxury tax will hurt the value of most
franchises.)
