BSG: Fortson Gone Without Compensation

In amongst the potential Walker trade discussions, and draft previews, I
never see any mention what's happening with Danny Fortson. Is he out of
here? Are there any trade scenarios where he re-signs and has a
meaningful role? If he doesn't sign with Boston, where is he likely to
go? He had his moments last year, and while he's probably in Pitino's
doghouse, it seems like Rick has a big enough ego to try to tame the
Fort, or keep him so he doesn't have to admit making a mistake in
trading for him. 

****SG: I think Danny's a goner. The cap rules make it pretty difficult
to pull of a sign-and-trade unless you're under the cap -- say they
signed him to a $24 million deal like Battie's and he was making $3.1 in
year one, his cap value would be just $1.55 million, which would mean
they could only take a salary back of $1.55 million + 15% + $100,000,
which would still be less than $2 million. 

Plus, any sign-and-trade would hinge on Fortson wanting to do a
sign-and-trade. Why wouldn't he just find a team like the Bucks or the
Clippers -- two teams that could use him -- and sign with them that way?
