RE: feelin' blue...

I hope you are right Paul. I don't think we have an untouchable and I think
Portland and to a lesser extent Indiana demonstrated that you don't need a
top 10 scorer and/or rebounder to go deep in the playoffs. I think both
those teams demonstrated that if you have 3 bonafide offensive options, you
should make the playoffs automatically. Right now, we have about 1.5. I
say that because when we need a bucket - I'd put the ball in Pierce's hands.
Walker less so because he forces too much and launches too far out on too
many occasions. For the minutes he logs, Kenny is not an offensive option
(unless he can bottle his "at Utah" performance and play like that 80% of
the time). I remain perplexed about if Walker is a small forward or power
forward but I think if you can get a scoring power forward (Croshere/Mason)
then you can probably get the best athlete in the draft at 11 regardless of
position since that draftee is not likely to start. If a power forward is
not obtained via trade then I'd likely go shooting guard at 11 (MoPe?/Demarr
Johnson (please drop or Miles! - I'm not holding my breath)/not sure on
Alexander or Richardson) and then hope that you can move Walker up to PF and
Pierce to SF. Although its beginning to sound like Crawford could be our
pick which sounds like the pg with the most upside. The Celtics do need a
little attitude because the pieces in place today may have a slight case of
Clipperitis where you don't expect to win and we all know how success breeds
success - just read Rick's book!. Even the teams we have traded with
(Denver/Cleveland) are not winning organizations so E.Williams/Fortson/VP
aren't used to winning. One think I think - winning in college is
overrated. Pierce and Walker both came from top notch colleges who won 20
games year in and year out. The fact that Mo Petersen played with MSU
should be irrelevant but it wasn't when Pinckney or Never Nervous Pervis was
drafted - both of their stocks rose almost exclusively due to the
tournament. Enough ranting - I get a bad feeling that the draft will be
much ado about nothing. Hope I'm wrong and that the Celtics pull off some
block bluster trade. Regardless who is coaching this year - it is a make or
break year and if the Celts don't succeed this year - then the Celts will
almost be forced to do a Orlando/Chicago type dismantlement. all IMHO.
