Historic Autographed Sections of Boston Celtics Parquet Floor to be Auctioned Online

More than 2,000 games, 68 Hall of Fame players, 16 World Championships, 10 Celtics MVPs, four NBA All-Star Games...one parquet court.  After more than 50 years as the most recognizable and storied playing surface in all of sports, the original Boston garden parquet was retired on December 22, 1999.  Now, only 21 one-of-a-kind autographed sections of historic significance will be offered in an online auction at www.sothebys.amazon.com beginning Monday, June 5, 2000.

The floor's center court section, featuring the Celtics unmistakable Leprechaun logo, will take center stage for the sale.  Measuring 20 feet by 20 feet, this ultimate piece of basketball real estate was the scene of countless historic tip-off battles between NBA "Big Men".  Additional treasured panels feature the actual spots where some of the game's most prolific players achieved their unforgettable feats.

Each panel offered is licensed by NBA Properties and measures two feet by two feet by one and a half inches.  Historic sections are autographed by the Celtics involved including Bill Russell, John Havlicek and Larry Bird and mounted with a placard in a custom wood and glass presentation, ready for display.

The online auction will run through Thursday, June 15, 2000.  A portion of the proceeds from this auction sale will benefit the Sports Museum of New England and the NBA Retired Players Association.
