Fortson Sign & Trade Difficult; C's Don't Want Childs

Danny Fortson said yesterday that the Knicks remain interested in his
client but that a sign-and-trade deal will be difficult.

"The way the rules are set up now it's hard to get a sign-and-trade
done," Raymond Brothers said.

The Knicks are offering Chris Childs, but Boston gladly passed.

The best chance, the C's have of a sign and trade, would be
with someone like Orlando {for Mercer}, the Pacers, Clippers,
Bulls - teams with the cap space to pick up the extra C's contract:
Cheaney or Barros or Minor or McCarty that Boston has to ship
out with Fortson to do the deal.
